1. Information We Collect

WatchDog Live, operated by Codex Labs LLC, collects information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the Service:

  • Account information: name, email address, and profile data you provide when creating an account.
  • Incident reports: text, images, timestamps, and any other content you submit.
  • GPS and location data: precise geographic coordinates and derived address information when you use the live-stream GPS tracking feature (see Section 4).
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, browser type, IP address, and device identifiers collected automatically via standard web analytics.
  • Payment information: if you make purchases through the shop, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store full payment card details on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
  • Display incident reports and stream overlays to you and your viewers.
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, order confirmations, security alerts).
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Data Sharing

We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: trusted third parties that help us operate the Service (e.g., Supabase for database and realtime infrastructure, Stripe for payment processing, Vercel for hosting). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
  • Public content: incident reports you mark as "approved" are displayed publicly on the WatchDog map and news feed, including location data associated with those reports.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law or in good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect the rights or safety of our users or the public.

4. GPS and Location Data

WatchDog Live is designed for creators who broadcast live from the field. The Service may collect and process your precise GPS coordinates in real time when the GPS tracking feature is active. This location data is used to:

  • Display your current position on the stream overlay and public map.
  • Attach location metadata to incident reports you submit.
  • Generate session recap data showing your route during a stream.

Location tracking is always opt-in and can be stopped at any time by ending your stream session or disabling the GPS feature in your dashboard. Historical location data associated with a session is retained until you delete the session or request erasure of your account data.

We do not sell or share your raw GPS coordinates with advertisers or data brokers.

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for authentication (session cookies), security (CSRF tokens), and analytics. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but doing so may limit your ability to use certain features of the Service such as staying signed in.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Incident reports and stream session data are retained indefinitely unless you delete them or request erasure. Anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained beyond account deletion.

You can delete individual incidents, sessions, and other content from your dashboard at any time. To request complete deletion of all data associated with your account, use the GDPR data deletion feature in account settings or contact us directly.

7. Your Rights (GDPR and Similar Frameworks)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data protection legislation, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure: request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten"). The GDPR data export and deletion tools are available directly in your account settings under Privacy & Data.
  • Portability: request an export of your data in a machine-readable format. This feature is built into the account settings page.
  • Objection / Restriction: object to or request restriction of certain processing activities.

To exercise any of these rights, use the self-service tools in your account settings or contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
